Description

Pan Melanoma is a cocktail of HMB-45, MART-1, and Tyrosinase. HMB-45 is specific for an antigen found in melanoma cells, cutaneous melanocytes, and prenatal and infantile retinal pigment epithelium, thereby labeling the majority of melanomas. MART-1, also known as Melan A, is a useful marker for melanocytic tumors, and as an aid in establishing the diagnosis of metastatic melanomas. Tyrosinase is an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of melanin, which has been indicated as a specific marker for melanotic lesions such as malignant melanoma and melanotic neurofibroma. Anti-Pan Melanoma is effective for detecting melanomas and melanocytic lesions, and may prove valuable in diagnosis of melanoma metastasis in sentinel lymph nodes.
