chromogranin B (CgB), a secretory protein in the same family as chromogranin A(CgA). CgB is unaffected by renal failure or use of proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It is measured complementary to CgA in some centers, and may improve diagnostic sensitivity by detecting rectal carcinoids, and specificity by decreasing false positives secondary to PPI treatment and renal failure.
