Beta-Catenin (In the pipeline)
Beta-Catenin is a cytoplasmic protein with a dual role in cell-cell adhesion and gene expression. It is normally present in the submembranous regions of the cell. Nuclear accumulation of beta-catenin has been found to occur as a result of gene mutations. This accumulation is useful in identifying desmoids tumours (fibromatosis) in the abdomen and breast, and is therefore useful in differentiating other cell neoplasms in these regions.
